Grab a bevvie, start debating the series’ true viewing order and then hop over to the gaming store next door, which is fittingly called The Kessel Run. The one thing that’s missing? The Cantina Band! But it’s okay, the hairless aliens from Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes will live on – we can only assume their famous song is played repeatedly over the sound system.
You can order a Bantha Milk, which is an authentic drink they served at the Cantina, as well as a mysterious green drink labelled The Yoda. The Ottawa bar has tried to replicate the rough haunt with a brown tinge to the walls and Star Wars themed drinks on tap. The Cantina bar is a pretty iconic part of the Star Wars universe – it’s where we first meet Han Solo and Chewbacca and the controversial “Han shot first” confrontation with Greedo occurs. This is really turning out to be a banner year for Star Wars fans – first there’s the upcoming highly anticipated release of Star Wars VII: A Force Awakens, which will finally answer all the questions we have about where our fave Jedi have been up to all these years, and now some geniuses have opened a real life Mos Eisley Cantina Bar in Ottawa.
